The singer, who is in the running for two Brit Awards this year, said she was ‘proud’ to be competing against Chezza for the British Female accolade.

‘I’m really proud to be in the same category as Cheryl Cole for British Female as she’s a babe, and Laura Marling too, as she’s a friend. Cheryl and I are still hoping to work together but we haven’t had time yet,’ the 24-year-old told The Daily Star.

Ellie said she really hopes to bag either the British Female or British Breakthrough Artist gong at this year’s awards.
‘That Brit I have is really lonely and needs some company,’ she explained.

The singer, who features on Tinie Tempah’s new single Wonderman, is up against the rapper in the Breakthrough category, but she admitted she’d be happy to see him win.

‘He’s worked really hard so no-one deserves it more than Tinie,’ Ellie told the newspaper.

She also revealed her second album could be released this year or at the beginning of 2012.

The Your Song singer has plenty to keep her busy in the meantime, however, as she’s kicking off a US tour in March this year.

She’s one of the biggest stars in Britain and has an army of assistants, make-up artists and stylists to cater to her every whim.

But millionaire pop star Cheryl Cole showed she still has her feet on the ground when she phoned up her local London council to order a wheelie bin.

Instead of getting an assistant to do the dirty work, the 27-year-old singer spoke to an Enfield council employee herself so she could get her waste disposal in order.

After agreeing to hand over her share of the £3.5million Surrey mansion she shared with ex-husband Ashley Cole, Cheryl is now living in a rented house in north London.

Cheryl moved into the £3,500-a-week house in Hadley Wood, which lies near the Hertfordshire borders and is only a few miles away from Wrotham Park, where she tied the knot with Ashley in 2006.

The house is also a few miles away from her former home in the Princess Park Manor complex in New Southgate – where the couple were both living separately when they were first met in October 2004.

A council source told the Evening Standard: ‘They were saying what a down-to-earth girl she is. She didn’t get her minions to do it. She is a proper working-class Geordie girl.

‘It’s great to have real celebrity royalty moving in and I am sure Cheryl will enjoy one of London’s best bin collection services.’

Enfield Council are currently in the process of supplying wheelie bins to all houses within its boundaries before Christmas and hopes to increase its waste recycling figures from 30 to 47 per cent.

Chris Bond, Enfield cabinet member for the environment, said: ‘Wheelie bins save council-tax payers money, keep streets cleaner and solve the problem of rats and foxes attracted by black bags.’

Meanwhile, Cheryl is still waiting to hear whether she will land the coveted spot on the U.S X Factor judging panel with Simon Cowell.

Cheryl Cole is allegedly hoping to launch her Hollywood movie career when she moves to America later this year.

The Girls Aloud beauty, whose job on the US version of The X Factor is said to be under threat from Katy Perry and Rihanna, is apparently keen to launch her film career and is said to be looking for the right role.

A source told the Daily Star: “Cheryl’s people are already looking into film roles for her.”

“There is a belief in Hollywood that if you’re not in a movie you’re no-one, and she knows that a part in a film could really launch her career over there.”

The insider continued: “They’re focusing on an all-action kick-ass role which would show her off in the best light. She’d look fabulous on-screen in a vampish costume.”

“She knows the key to her success probably lies in her killer looks. Her people are all too aware an action role is ideal as it won’t involve too much acting ability.”

Reports have also suggested that the 27-year old is keen to change her style when she lands Stateside, with a source telling the News of the World earlier this week that she is going to meet with some of America’s top stylists to establish her new look.

Whilst US superstars like Will.i.am and Justin Bieber can’t stop gushing about Cheryl Cole and her music, it seems as though the feeling isn’t the same in the UK.

The star, who released her second album, Messy Little Raindrops earlier last year might not like to hear that it has been nominated for the Worst Album of the Year award…

According to Now!, approximately 500,000 people have voted for Cheryl’s succesful album to win the least coveted award in the Shockwaves NME Awards.

And if you thought that was harsh, Justin Bieber has also been nominated in the same category for his album, My World.

Even the Jonas Brothers can’t escape, because along with JLS, the three lads have been nominated for Worst Band.

On the bright side, however, Cheryl has been nominated for Best British Single and Best Britsh Female Artist at next month’s BRIT awards.

Despite wanting to start a family, Cheryl Cole has reportedly ruled out walking down the aisle again.

The X Factor judge shocked her dancer boyfriend Derek Hough last weekend when she told him that she will never marry again.

“Cheryl has told Derek point blank that she won’t marry him,” the Daily Star quoted a close pal of 25-year-old Derek, as saying.

“They’ve been talking a lot recently about what the future holds for them. Cheryl has told Derek she loves him and wants to settle down and start a family. But she’s made it quite clear that it won’t involve a wedding,” he added.

“She’s been permanently scarred by her marriage break-up with Ashley and can’t face going through another divorce,” said the friend.

The revelation was the second blow for the blond hunk in as many days after Cole told him she would not move in with him when she relocates to America.

“Derek has really been hit hard by Cheryl’s change of heart. He is desperate to get married and settle down,” said the friend.

“She wants to have babies – and lots of them – and has told him that he’s the man she wants to be with. But he had his hopes set on a really big wedding,” he added.

He said Hough is very traditional and grew up in a Mormon household where having children out of wedlock is absolutely not acceptable.

Sources close to the couple said that they were more in love than ever after their romantic New Year getaway to South Africa.

But the 27-year-old Geordie star has made it clear to Hough that he must be patient and go at her speed or their relationship will be over.
